It didn’t really phase them at all. It was 114 degrees outside in San Luis Obispo, and over the past year Carly and Michael had changed plans multiple times due to COVID restrictions. At last, they made it to their wedding day. Neither fully blind or blissful, but having just enough blinders to focus on what matters most.
Fortunately for me, I remained their Plan A photographer and the ranch we found turned out to be Carly’s dream location! I had known Carly for years and she’d always wished to have me photograph her wedding. It was really special that I was able to do this for her even after the many iterations of their wedding plans.
They just knew how to roll with it—literally. After the ceremony we hopped into a little ATV and rode to the top of some little hills nearby. Carly and Michael had a lot of energy to run around and produce some awesome photos.
A wildfire had started nearby during the ceremony and rolled in smoke that created a beautiful haze. The playful couple had a lot of fun chasing each other amidst all the colors and shades of orange produced by the setting sun.
It’s weddings like this that make it all worth it. Despite the reschedules, revamping of plans, and changes to ideal scenarios, their wedding was so very intentional and beautiful—I was honored to be a part of it.
