This wasn’t the original plan. Rachel and Dean had always dreamt of a large wedding in Mammoth Lakes, CA. This was the perfect follow-up to their amazing surprise proposal at Mt. Whitney. Since great portions of Mammoth were shut down, like so many 2020 couples, they had to get creative. These two found a place just as special in Big Bear Lake, California to have their elopement along the Pacific Crest Trail.
Following some hunting, they found the perfect spot for their ceremony along the trail. Rachel discovered a rock that she covered with a blanket, transforming it into a decorated ceremony spot. Their dog Pip held down the fort until the time for exchanging vows finally arrived! After getting dressed, including having Dean do their young son’s hair, they had a tear-filled first look just the two of them.
These two decided to walk down their wooded aisle hand in hand. This was followed by their exchange of vows in front of the surrounding trees and a gorgeous overlook. Besides their immediate family of pup and son, they were joined by their closest family and friends standing nearby. All the most important people in their lives had gathered for this intimate and inventive elopement along the Pacific Crest Trail. There was plenty of love (and tears!) to go around!
We ended the day frolicking through meadows in Big Bear and making some lovely memories of their day. It was awesome being on this journey with them, helping plan out the details of their Pacific Crest Trail elopement. Part of their wedding decor was the phrase: “Wherever we go…we go in love.” They certainly made it all work with love as the main theme of their day!
