So! You’re engaged & now it’s time for your engagement photos. Your engagement photos are almost (not quite-but almost) as important as your wedding ones. You’ll gawk over them for the months to come as you plan your big, special day. Finding an engagement photographer is one thing. However, deciding where your pictures are taken is another matter entirely! Sometimes it’s the more challenging of the two. I’ve had the pleasure of working with many couples & have found the best of the best locations for those special photos. Here are four of my absolute favorite places to photograph couples in all their glory. Happy scrolling!
First off, we have Joshua Tree. This location has some major desert vibes, from the hundreds of cacti to the gigantic rock formations. The warm tones from the gorgeous sunsets, mixed with hills as far as the eye can see set the scene for some incredible photos. The empty roads criss-crossing Joshua Tree are a great setting for the good ‘ole ‘running down the empty streets’ pictures everyone undoubtedly loves (you know the ones).
This location boasts one of the greatest settings for the perfect “golden hour” shot, but is just as beautiful at night as it is during the day. Looking up to see thousands of stars in the sky will render you & your boo speechless.
This location offers a huge variety of settings. Darling coffee shops, aquariums, galleries, eclectic buildings & of course, sandy beaches. The crashing waves around your ankles make for playful, carefree vibes. Dance in the surf, look back on your footprints in the sand, have some fun with it! You will by no means regret choosing this location for your engagement photos. This beautiful spot is by far one of my favorites.
Big bear is a dream come true for those of us that love getting out amongst nature. Offering serene mountain vistas, plenty of greenery and golden rays of light streaking through the trees, you won’t leave disappointed. Alternatively, come in winter and brave the snow to get those crisp, winter-wonderland shots. Yes, it is freezing, and yes, it is oh so worth it. Nothing beats capturing a snow fight. You will love it.
As the name suggests, the sunsets at Sunset Cliffs are breathtaking. If you’re looking to make the most of the “golden hour” by the beach, look no further, this is the best of the best. The contrasting light and dark tones of blue in the ocean and clear horizons make for stunning images. This location is the very definition of dreamy & romantic.
I’m sure you all know my favorite thing to capture by now. A good golden hour shot. The golden hours here are the creme de la creme. The beautiful oak trees & tall grasses are everywhere you look. During the fall, you are surrounded by beautiful reddish-brown hues that will simply make you melt. But during the spring, green! Green everywhere! You cannot go wrong with this gorgeous spot.

Indy and Chad had been looking forward to this day for so stinking long!! From dating in high school to YEARS later where they finally get to tie the knot, it was an emotional day. As the redwoods towered over us and Indy walked up to Chad for the first time during their first look, Chad got to see his bride for the first time on their wedding day and became overwhelmed with emotions. He began to tear up as Indy wiped the tears from his face.
Their day started off unexpectedly. Megan and Hayden were expecting sun and golden hour photos on the beaches of beautiful La Jolla, CA, but with the season California was having that winter, it was scheduled to be a stormy day. But even with the forecast, we were able to create some beautifully special photos!
Oh wow, this couple, this day, and this wedding are one of my favorites to date. Not only because I know the couple (…and pretty much everyone that attended their wedding!!), but also because their day had such a timeless beauty to it. It was fantastic .
It was a rainy Saturday in SoCal, and Ariel and Max were so excited to get married. The rain added some fun new additions to their ceremony like tents and market lights, and it was the most beautiful scene! Afterwards, we headed out around the venue with some pumpkins I bought from the pumpkin patch, and it was perfect!
I felt like I was a part of Jenny and Tanner’s family when I was capturing their day. They had me dancing on the dance floor and singing at the top of my lungs to all their favorite songs, as well as crying as Jenny put on her dress and saw herself for the first time. Or as Tanner became teary-eyed as Jenny walked down the aisle to him. These two hold such a special place in my heart.
Every little detail of her day was planned out, and her venue!?!?!? Oh my WORD, Mt. Woodson Castle is such a beautiful place!! We had so much fun taking pictures inside, outside on the golf course, and even under the trees where the ceremony was. Yongsi’s family flew halfway across the world to be with her for her big day, and it was truly so special. Everyone was celebrating and dancing until the grand send off!
This day was SO beautiful. When I first arrived to Davina’s Airbnb where she was getting ready, her family gave me the biggest hugs. They were so excited to have me taking their photos – and I felt like I was already a friend!
There were so many special details included throughout this day – like the fact that Brianna’s dad built their ceremony backdrop BY HAND as well as the sweet heart table, and the fact that the bride hand wrote every name on the escort tiles for each table.
From the vintage ring box, to the venue with brick walls, to her beautiful dress displayed beautifully in the room, to their sunset photos in San Juan, to their first look at the San Juan Capistrano Mission, the entire day was magic.
I’ve never quite witnessed a wedding like this one before. Ariel and Cedric had originally wanted to hold their ceremony and big wedding celebration in Malibu, California, which is what I was originally booked for this past July. But, living in Southern California, things can change VERY quickly when wildfires get involved. That’s when they decided to move their wedding to France. Trust me, this is a wedding you’re going to want to check out!
